Thomson: the concentration must be high

MALKY Thomson says concentration must be high as Rangers prepare for another tough Park’s Motor Group SWPL game against Hibernian.

Rangers host the Edinburgh side at Auchenhowie on Sunday afternoon and Thomson expects a number of aspects to be crucial during the game.

Talk to Rangers TV before the game he said: “I think it’s going to be a real show given that we’re going to be back on grass which is always better for our team and Hibs are a well organized team and they compete .

“As the league progresses a lot of teams are getting stronger and they have a better understanding of how others are playing, so it will come down to different aspects. It can depend on how fast we play or what tactics we deploy, so there are a lot of permutations there.

“The last game against Hibs was the first time we actually got three points winning just 1-0 and not having the cushion to have a second or third goal. They showed resilience, focus and concentration levels were high so again we have to make sure we focus for the full 90 minutes to get the three points.

Thomson is pleased with the strength of his squad at the moment and the flexibility it allows the coaching staff to have when it comes to tackling different challenges.

He continued: “It allows us to do two things, we have competition in the squad so every player has to train to a high level to be in the squad on a Sunday, but secondly we have competition. versatility in the team. It means that if, unfortunately, we lose a player through injury or whatever, there is someone there who can step in and fill that void, which is great having.
