A young Border woman shows that acting can be all about learning skills, improving self-confidence, and meeting new people – you can participate even if you don’t want to be a professional actor. Maleah Beckwith plays the iconic character of Dorothy in Albury Wodonga Theater Company’s 2022 production of “The Wizard of Oz”, and the 18-year-old said she was thrilled with the opportunity. “It will be a very good show,” she said. “I’m going to be working with lots of experienced people, which is going to push me and help me develop as an actor myself. IN OTHER NEWS:“ It’s gonna be really tough, it’s gonna be a whole new casting and I also work with people who are a bit older than me. ”Ms. Beckwith has been involved in many frontier performances so far, including a ByteSized theatrical production and performances at Trinity Anglican College, where she graduated from grade 12. Although she shows an obvious passion for acting, Ms Beckwith stated that she didn’t necessarily want to pursue her acting career. “I just want to make it a hobby”, she said, as a person and so it’s definitely one of those opportunities. “Ms Beckwith said she hoped playing Dorothy would improve her self-confidence and expand her social circles. “There is a whole world in front of me that I have to explore on my own,” she says. “I’m just excited to be working with a whole new group of people, because I’ve done my productions but they’re all the same people that I work with.” So now I can branch out and meet people, work with a whole new class, new director, new crew and it’s going to be really interesting to be able to make new friendships and new relationships with people and experiences. “Dorothy is quite young. And naive and just wants to go on the adventures that are offered to her, so I really want to capture that essence and just be able to portray a character who wants to explore new things and meet new people and hopefully learn. a thing or two along the way. ” The Wizard of Oz will be at the Albury Entertainment Center May 13-21.
