JEE Mains 2022: Last minute tips and strategy to score well


With JEE Main 2022 just around the corner with barely a month left, the aspirants are already ready. This year, the JEE main exam will start on June 20, 2022.

As JEE is a highly competitive exam, it is estimated that more than 16 lakh students will take the exam this year and nearly two lakh aspirants will be eligible to pursue the JEE Advanced. With such competition on their minds, how should an aspirant prepare with a month left with them?

For candidates to be successful, using time perfectly would be essential. Now, as there is almost no time left, it should be mandatory for them to take several mock exams online for better practice and analysis of each subject.

Candidates need to spend a lot of time assessing preparation due to the extensive syllabus of the JEE main exam. Continuous attention, a thorough understanding of the subject matter, and the most effective exam approach are all required for JEE core preparations.

High weight subjects

– Physics: Focus on high weight topics such as modern physics, heat and thermodynamics, optics, capacitors and electrostatic current electricity, magnetism, kinematics of waves and sound, electromagnetic induction. Particle kinematics and dynamics are two important mechanics topics that almost always appear in JEE papers. According to general trends, the most significant subjects in terms of the amount of questions asked in recent JEE years are mechanics and electricity and magnetism.

– Chemistry: The following topics are essential – coordination chemistry, periodic tables and representative elements, thermodynamics and gaseous state, concept of mole in physical chemistry and organic chemistry, nuclear chemistry and environment, chemical and ionic equilibrium, electrochemistry and chemical bonding in inorganic chemistry.

– Math : Focus on some of the top rated topics such as Quadratic Equations and Expressions, Limits, Continuity and Differentiability, Definite Integral in Calculus, Complex Numbers, Statistics, Progression Series, Probability, vectors, matrices in algebra; circle, parabola, hyperbola in coordinate geometry.

Chapters such as complex numbers usually have 2-3 problems (all exclusively complex numbers) per year. Therefore, learning complex numbers, vectors and the definite integral should take priority. Finally, the only approach to success in math is to practice problems while remembering the question pattern from previous JEE exams.

Tips for last minute preparations

— Set your goals: Prepare a weekly and daily schedule. Make a list of chapters or topics that need to be rewritten. To be more productive, take short, handwritten notes

— Be updated with the latest model: According to the scoring model, each subject will receive 30 questions, so selective study is not recommended. In mathematics, the emphasis should be on calculus and algebra. Electromagnetism and mechanics represent the majority of physics questions that are addressed in the network. Additional physics and organic chemistry questions are expected, as they have been in the past.

— Try more mock exams: The review and practice tests will help students familiarize themselves with the topics and concepts, as well as keep them up to date with the current trend and pattern of the JEE Mains exam. Taking mock tests and getting real-time feedback has proven to be extremely beneficial, as students are more likely to learn from their mistakes and avoid repeating them on exam day.

— Revise in depth: To memorize the subjects provided throughout the main JEE preparation, you must go through the entire program. JEE is built on the basis of NCERT texts. So, go over all the topics and concepts in detail as it will help you manage your time throughout the exam.

The previous 30 days should have been put to good use in improving problem solving by gaining a full understanding of the ideas involved, reducing the time needed to solve a problem, and detecting and correcting faults. This period should be spent solidifying one’s preparations by focusing on problem solving and overcoming weaknesses.
