Bhubaneswar: The government of Odisha has requested all schools to set up “Language and Number Corners”, a unique facility, equipped with useful study materials, to improve the language and math skills of students from Classes I to VIII.
Khurda The district leads the state in preparing such materials for display in schools as part of foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) program, officials said.
“The FLN program is implemented in schools across the state to improve students’ reading, writing, and arithmetic skills at the foundational level. Children could learn from pictures and various educational learning materials, developed and displayed in FLN corners of each school, which will be changed at frequent intervals,” said Biswanath TaraiDistrict Education Officer, Khurda.
The approach aims to involve all the actors of the elementary schools for a good implementation of the program.
The program also provides that student learning gaps and their likely reasons will be identified and various strategies initiated, taking into account local circumstances and diversity.
